Open Letter to Commissioner Sweet Asking for his Recusal for Vote on SCCF

Coos County Commissioner John Sweet

With copies to other Commissioners and to other parties having expressed an interest in the SCCF matter

Dear Commissioner Sweet:​

In their 23 May 2014 memo to new South Coast Community Foundation (SCCF) directors that was made public and published yesterday by The World paper, outgoing SCCF board members and officers Lansing, Verger and Whitty gave readers no doubt that you are a director of the SCCF.

In recent weeks, orally and in writing to the media, Ms. Cribins has stated that Coos County is not yet a member of SCCF and a motion to join the SCCF (perhaps ratify an earlier work session decision) is scheduled to be voted upon 3 June 2014.

Since you have a personal interest in SCCF and you will receive personal benefit by a favorable county vote to join the SCCF, this constuituent respectfully requests that you recuse yourself from voting on joining the SCCF, on accepting the SCCF Bylaws as now written (whatever that may be) and from voting on any other related SCCF, CEP, or Bayfront Investment matter.
