Thank you for your interest in FACL's Political Leadership School!  This is not a class on political philosophy or ideas.  This is practical, no nonsense and tested information on how to be effective in politics.

This intense one-day training covers:

  • The Real Nature of Politics - why just
"educating" people alone won't result in change

  • The Biggest Lie in Politics - and how the
political class uses your convictions against you

  • How to work effectively at the Capitol -
getting a bill sponsor and a roll call vote despite the leadership

  • How to build a group - putting pressure on
    legislators

All of our instructors have years of experience putting these principles to work in multiple states.  They have worked for the cause of freedom with organizations such as National Right to Work Committee, National Pro-Life Alliance, National Association for Gun Rights, and Campaign for Liberty as well as federal, state and local campaigns, including major presidential campaigns, and successful campaigns for U.S. Senate and Congress.  They know what works, and also what has been proven not to work in getting politicians to vote right.
This class will teach you how to turn your passion into effective action.

We sincerely hope you can join us.

[OFF Alert] New anti-gun bills coming?

OFF ALERT
05.21.13
ANTI-GUN BILLS NOT DEAD BY A LONG SHOT

Although news stories have indicated that the privacy (and rights busting) anti-gun bills are dead in
the Rules Committee, reports of their demise are premature.

Not satisfied with crippling Second Amendment rights in his own state (and dictating what you can eat and drink) New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is mounting a well funded assault on your gun rights in Oregon.

While the Senate Republicans have, so far, remained united in opposing new regulations and
restrictions on your gun rights, Senator Bruce Starr is now considering legislation that would not only expand the mandate that you ask the state for permission to obtain a gun, it would increase the fees you would have to pay for that “privilege.”

Bandon---Combine Private Public Partnership w/ Urban Renewal and you get cheese...

Creamery gets the backing it needs to open in Bandon
by Jennifer Janda | Dec 27, 2012
Craft3 announced its investment in Face Rock Creamery in Bandon.
Craft3 is the company that used to be called Enterprise Cascadia and previously was part of ShoreBank. Its loan is the final
piece of financing needed for the construction of Face Rock Creamery. The cheese factory will bring back a heritage industry along with local jobs and tourism dollars.

For 62 years, the Bandon Cheese Factory drew travelers to Bandon. But just two years after buying it in 2000, a larger cheese
maker closed and demolished the factory. The abandoned site was an eyesore and the community immediately began lobbying to bring a cheese factory back to Bandon.

City leaders backed local developer Greg Drobot’s idea to open a new cheese factory to be called Face Rock Creamery. Together they drew on the expertise of Joe Sinko, former owner of Bandon Cheese and longtime
friend of Craft3.......read more......

National Town Hall to
Review the Situation and Plan Next Steps
Wednesday, May 29th, 2013
The Farm, 239 Anderson Ferry Road, Cincinnati, OH  45248
Starts at 7:00pm EDT
Patriots,

Tonight, the SouthWest Cincinnati Tea Party will be hosting a national "Town Hall" on the IRS scandal.

The IRS attack on conservative groups and individuals has an impact on all Americans not just those currently targeted.  The government should never have the power to single out individuals for "special" treatment based on what they believe or who they talk to - it's called Freedom of Speech and it is guaranteed by the First Amendment to the Constitution.

This time it to those who happened to disagree with the current administration.

The next time the criteria may include you!

The Oregon Terrorism Information Threat Assessment Network

Oregon Fusion Center: House of spies or terror-threat prevention?
The funding for a data collection center aimed at identifying and defusing terrorist threats in Oregon is
in flux.

The Oregon Terrorism Information Threat Assessment Network is one of several Federal Fusion Centers spread across 77 U.S. cities that collaborate with local law-enforcement agencies on suspected terrorist threats.

But from Portland to Boston the effectiveness of these centers, along with their potential to violate free speech and privacy rights, is being questioned. Federal lawmakers critical of the programs have accused the centers,
an after effect of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, of collecting “crap intelligence.”

Portland could be a good example of that, free speech advocates say. Read more here.

USFS---Federal land buries rural economies in WA & OR

5/23/2013

Federal land buries rural economies in WA and OR
In Skamania County, Wash., growing an economy is nearly impossible.

The federal government owns 80 percent of the land. The state of Washington owns 8 percent. Timber companies – who only pay sales taxes when they harvest – own 10 percent.

That leaves a measly 2 percent for your average Joe: not much by way of commercial and residential in this town of little more than 11,000 residents.

The numbers may be shocking to East Coasters or Midwesterners but here in the Pacific Northwest where lush forests dominate the landscape, it’s the norm. And rural counties are faltering. In Skamania that means a 12.2 percent unemployment rate. Read more here.

The Ghost of Tricky Dick

5/21/2013

Comments

Picture
May 20, 2013

There are those who believe the ghosts of the dead presidents haunt the halls of the White House.  Some believe these spirits have powers to inspire the decisions of current and future Presidents, but it was rather surprising to find that the lingering ghost of Richard Nixon has possessed President Obama.

The President can now claim ignorance for all his ills, because he has found someone new to blame for everything, including his enemy’s list.  It was Nixon’s fault for why the Attorney General’s Office is spying on the Associated Press reporters.  Nixon went as far as to change the talking points on the consulate attack in Benghazi.   The shamed former president whispered into the ear of the Secretary of State and told her to make excuses to the US Senate Hearing about this foreign policy disaster. Nixon cajoled the IRS to bully the Tea Partiers---all for personal political payback.   As President, Nixon despised dissenters and these actions sound like the modus operandi of the paranoid and the guilty.  Yes, it is the ghoulish works of that horrible specter, The Ghost of Tricky Dick.

The IRS scandal will be the worst one yet for the administration, because everyone has a natural distain for that agency.  The IRS used delaying tactics to stall Tea Party Groups from establishing a “501(c)4”.  The IRS tried obtaining information not pertaining to the process and it was clearly nontax information that the agents requested from these organizations.   Ideology is the reason the IRS tagged their applications.   Three of the targeted grassroots groups are located here in Oregon.

Jeff Kropf from Capital Watch, Richard Burke from Western Liberty Network, and the Pacific Freedom Foundation claim the IRS targeted their groups when they tried to form a non-profit.  Their leaders complained that the IRS harassed them when they applied for tax-exempt status and they believe the agency singled them out, because of their conservative beliefs.  The chill running down your spine is not the conjuring of a passing ghost; it is the cold steel feel of suppression.

The scandals facing President Obama stem from the same old problem that always occurs with big government.  The bigger the government the bigger the problems created by the bureaucracy. Government is a bad manager and the more segments of society and the market that it tries to manage the more times it will fail.  Those systemic failures create scandals that morph into vexations on the soul of any presidency. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy repeated throughout history.

Americans have to become administrative exorcists.   We must learn how to empower ourselves and find the mechanisms to limit the authority of government.  The Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership has a school to teach people how to deal with these types of progressive poltergeist.   The Republican Party of Coos County is proud to announce plans to have The Political Leadership School teach our residents how to fend-off government ghouls.

The Political Leadership School will be in session on Saturday June 1, 2013, here in Coos County at the Red  Lion Hotel 1313 North Bayshore Dr. Coos Bay, OR 97420.Registration will be between 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and the class starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. and goes to 5:00 p.m.  The ticket Price is a moderate $35 a person and that includes lunch.  Together, we can take back our liberty and restore America!

The Foundation’s Political Leadership School is not a class on political philosophy or ideas.  This is practical, no
nonsense, and tested information on how to be effective in politics.

This intense one-day training covers:

The Real Nature of Politics - why just "educating" people alone won't result in change

The Biggest Lie in Politics - and how the political class uses your convictions against you

How to work effectively at the Capitol - getting a bill sponsor and a roll call vote despite the leadership

How to build a group - putting pressure on legislators

All of the Foundation’s instructors have years of experience putting these principles to work in multiple states, including Oregon.  They have worked for the cause of freedom with organizations such as National Right to Work Committee, National Association for Gun Rights, and Campaign for Liberty as well as federal, state, and local campaigns.  This includes major presidential campaigns and successful campaigns for U.S. Senate and Congress.  They know what works to get politicians to vote properly and protect our individual rights.

The class will teach you how to turn your passion into effective action.  You can find more information and a link to the class registration form at www.CoosCountyWatchdog.com.  We sincerely hope you can join us before we are all suffering the sinister sounds of rattling chains and aching moans from a ghost of presidents past defensively exclaiming that famous mantra, “I’m not a crook.”

Petition on the Protect Oregon Driver Licenses Referendum Updated 5-19-2013

5/19/2013

Comments

Good news: Ten-line signature sheets are now available---Updated 5-19-2013
Please take a few minutes to read this important announcement!
May 18, 2013 OFIR  members and supporters:

The 10-line signature sheets used for gathering signatures for the Referendum on SB 833 are now available. Our devoted volunteers that are chomping at the bit to get going can now start signature gathering.

These 10-line signature sheets must be obtained from the Protect Oregon Driver Licenses campaign.  They cannot be photocopied. This is a strict rule of the Secretary of State which we must follow. If photocopied forms are used, the Secretary of State will not accept them, and the signatures on them will not likely be counted.

This may seem an overly bureaucratic requirement by the Secretary of State’s office, but it’s necessary for us to observe all the guidelines they set forth to get the benefit of all possible signatures.

If you are in the Salem area you can pick up signature gathering packets:  Tuesday, May 21 from 11am - 1pm, on the steps of the Capitol in Salem.  (Keep your fingers crossed for a dry day)

Signature sheet packets will also be available at the OFIR meeting*, Saturday, June 1 at 2:00 pm in Salem.  If you have single signature sheets you have printed out and signed, or filled some 10 signature sheets to turn in, bring them to the meeting, too.  When you are finished collecting signatures, please send them to us and, if you could, please send back the copy of the bill we provided to you.   We can send it out in another packet. (save paper, save money, too)

If you are interested in gathering signatures for the referendum on SB 833, and you can't attend either event, Send an email to Protect Oregon Driver Licenses and request the 10-line signature sheets.  Please include your name and postal mailing address; also tell us how many 10 signature sheets you would like us to send to you.

We are in the process now of mailing the 10-line signature sheets to persons who previously requested them. If you don’t receive your previously-requested sheets within the next few days, please notify us. Send an email to Protect Oregon Driver Licenses.  Alternatively, you can query OFIR at ofir@oregonir.org.

Thanks to everyone who has offered to help gather signatures!!

The single-signature sheets can be downloaded from http://www.protectoregondl.org/  at any time.  Please alert friends, relatives and neighbors about being able to download the single-signature sheets.   Please DO NOT make multiple copies of the single signature sheet and distribute. It’s a strict requirement of the Secretary of State that the text of the bill, SB 833, be available for viewing when collecting signatures. That is the reason why the single signature sheets cannot be copied and handed out to others. A copy of the full bill is available
on the website:  http://www.protectoregondl.org/.

If you are able to collect signatures from others, it’s necessary to use the 10-form signature sheet and have a copy of the text of SB 833 with you to let people read if they wish.

The Secretary of State may not be able to overlook minor infractions of their rules.  Signatures must be legible as well as the printed names. The Secretary of State’s office is obligated, for the protection of both sides of the issue, to be certain ALL rules are followed to the letter.  So, let's not give them a reason to disqualify any signatures we gather.

Signature gatherers, please DO NOT sign the 10 signature sheet until you are done collecting signatures.  Your signature and the date are the LAST things to go on the sheet.

Please leave blank the lower right corner space where the words "Sheet Number" appear.   This space is reserved for managers' use at the end of the campaign.  At that time, the managers will number all sheets prior to submission to the Secretary of State.

Remember:
1.) Only Oregon registered voters should sign the petition.  They should sign the petition only ONE time.
2.)  Remind signers to write legibly and use the same name they used when they registered to vote.
3.)  If people aren't registered to vote, DON'T have them sign the petition.  Tell them:  First, get registered online, then wait 3 business days before signing the petition.
4.)  Don't argue immigration issues with potential signers ...  save that for another day.  If they are hesitant, simply refer them to the Protect Oregon Drivers Licenses website at http://www.protectoregondl.org/

Reaction to OFIR’s announcement of the Referendum has shown an outpouring of widespread public support for rescinding SB 833, the bill passed on April 30 which would grant driver cards to illegal aliens. Check for updates on the OFIR website at http://www.oregonir.org.

If you have the opportunity to call in to a talk show about the referendum, please do.  Lars Larsen and Bill Post have been great helping to spread the word.

We need 58.142 valid signatures of registered voters to put this referendum over the top.

We think the signatures are out there for sure! Let’s get them.

The Better Candidates for the Port of Bandon

5/18/2013

Picture
May 7, 2013

The race is on, the ballots are out, and it is heating up in the contest for port commissioner of Bandon.

It is a simple clear-cut choice.  The voters can pick between two, tax and spend, big-government progressives or two, limited government, fiscal conservatives.

The two incumbents have a record of wasting money on government boondoggles.  During their terms, they used a half a million in tax dollars to buy and restore a perfectly functional private business and turn it into a government flee market, which is a reference to the blue building that is now the green building.

The port was derelict for not having an economic strategic plan in place for several years.  The error caught the commissioners off guard and unprepared. Now the governor is forcing his own plan on the port, which contains stipulations for the cooperation between the port and the US Fish & Wildlife Service, among other federal agencies. It is these types of mistakes eroding public confidence.  The strategic plan will bring in a considerable amount of money from state and federal grants.  The port will use this money for government economic development projects on the port and it would benefit the taxpayer to have someone with self-control over monetaryissues.

When the USFWS sent a letter to the port of Bandon concerning the purchase of port property to use for the Bandon Marsh expansion, not one of the incumbents wrote a letter to the editor to inform their constituents. None of the commissioners held a public meeting to inform the people about this federal land grab.  No radio appearances, no ads in the papers, not one TV spot, not one word from the commissioners about this federal invasion.  It took the actions of private citizens to force the port to take a vote on a resolution against the planned expansion.  The incumbents were MIA, missing in action, until recently, when someone challenged their positions on the port.  Now, the port commissioners are palling around with Jon Barton and Sandra Messerle from the South Coast Development Council.   Even Bill Bradbury is making an appearance to endorse his fellow
Democrats. Too bad, they did not do this for the people they represent.

Jill Halliburton is running for position #1 on the port of Bandon and Don Chance is running for position #3.  Both of these candidates have proven their leadership skills with their actions to prevent the restoration of the Coquille Valley as well as their own personal achievements.

Mrs. Halliburton has been successful in building a thriving local business and has actually created jobs in the county, without one dollar in urban renewal money.  Currently, she is serving on the port’s Economic Development Committee were she has worked to curtail government spending.  She was the first person to write a letter alerting the people to the plans of The Service to use our tax dollars to steal the Coquille Valley. Moreover, she is a founder of the non-profit group, Coos County Today.  She is a graduate of OSU and raised her three successful children in the heart of the valley.

Don Chance is a true outdoorsman with a genuine concern for the people who live in southern Oregon.  He has worked on private restoration projects, but has fought admirably against the creation of government wetlands.  Don believes in free market solutions to environmental problems.  He was instrumental in the development of Heritage Place and served as the first Chief Administrator of this facility, which was a complex project requiring cooperation with many, diverse regulatory agencies and local stakeholders..

Mr. Chance moved to the southern coast of Oregon after serving for six years in the US Navy as a hospital corpsman, primarily with the US Marine Corps, and then he worked for a number of years in the long-term care
industry.

On May 21, you will have the chance to vote for two bold and fresh people for the port of Bandon and replace the stagnation. If you are happy with the status-quo then vote for the same old, same old incumbents, but do not complain when the port is stuck with the same results.  Try something new and vote for Don Chance for position #3 and Jill Halliburton for position #1.

Stop the Farm Bill Save Your Milk Money

5/16/2013

Comments

from The National Taxpayers Union

It’s called “DMSP” for short, but it really just spells trouble for taxpayers and consumers! What are we talking about? It’s the Dairy Market Stabilization
Program, and if you don’t take action today, it’ll be
just one of many ways Congress’s Farm Bill will hit you right in your wallet.

Check out our NEW video at YourMilkMoney.org to learn more about DMSP and fight back against big government!
When it comes to farm policy, lawmakers just can’t seem to give taxpayers a break. After coming close last year to enacting a package of farm subsidies and Food Stamp spending that nearly topped a trillion dollars, they’re at it again.  Pick a section – almost any section – of the House or Senate Farm Bills, and you’ll likely find something to give you fiscal heartburn:  cut-rate crop insurance that puts taxpayers at risk,“renewable fuel”
mandates that drive up the prices you pay for corn-based products, and trade promotion programs that
benefit huge agribusinesses.

But one of the worst provisions is DMSP.  It’s billed as a “reform,” even though it’s just a new set of rules to give
the federal government more ways to interfere with the production of milk.  Congress’s own research service has
reported that DMSP’s effects are “expected to result in a higher future farm price for milk.” Translation:
YOU pay more at the cash register for many kinds of products, while food manufacturers pay more for their raw material and are less able to create jobs. Government nutrition programs will face bigger financial burdens
too!

To help alert Americans to the dangers of DMSP, NTU and its allies have created the YourMilkMoney.org
campaign.  There you can find our latest video exposing DMSP and take action to stop DMSP before it starts costing you plenty.

A key U.S. Senate Committee is working this week on preparing a Farm Bill for floor consideration, so now is
the time for you to speak outagainst this scheme.  If we can defeat DMSP at this stage of the legislative process, the way will be paved for more taxpayer victories over other terrible parts of the Farm Bill.

If you’re worried about higher food prices and a sluggish economy, then you should be worried about the Farm Bill and DMSP as well.  Don’t miss this opportunity –watch the new video at www.yourmilkmoney.org right now and find out what you can do to protect your family from Washington’s wasteful ways.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for taking action on this important issue.

Sincerely,
Your Grassroots Action Team at NTU

Tax fight aims at PSU renewal district

Opponents sharpen knives for litigation on education funds

Portland’s newly hatched Education Urban Renewal Area may face new restrictions on spending money for — of all things — education.

The urban renewal district was created a year ago by the Portland Development Commission to steer $169 million in city money to redevelop the area around Portland State University and Lincoln High School. The urban renewal plan’s listed projects include rebuilding PSU’s Neuberger Hall and other academic uildings, and fostering a mixed-use redevelopment of the Lincoln site that
might incorporate the downtown high school.

Attorney Greg Howe argues that spending any city property tax money for education must comply with voter-approved property tax limitations, especially the granddaddy of them all — 1990’s Measure 5, which caused a long-term erosion of school funding in Oregon.

Bandon, Ore. – The public is cordially invited to join the Bureau of Land Management for a day of fun activities at the New River Area of Critical Environmental Concern Open House on Saturday, May 18, 2013. The event
will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We hope people will come out and learn what’s happening at New River. It will be a great opportunity to explore the area with BLM staff and learn how you can be involved in the management of New River in the future,” said Kip Wright, Manager of the New River ACEC.

The BLM will offer nature center tours and interactive activities for kids, and serve light refreshments throughout the day. Interpretive hikes along some of New River’s trails will be offered at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

To reach New River from Bandon, drive south on Highway 101 and turn right on to Croft Lake Lane. Drive to the end of the lane, where signs direct visitors through the entrance gate to the ACEC.

The BLM manages 1,356 acres of public land at New River with the intent to maintain biodiversity and quality habitats for native communities of plants, birds, animals and fish.

For additional information, contact the BLM’s Coos Bay District office at 541-756-0100.

About BLM
The BLM manages more land –245 million surface acres – than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western States, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM’s multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural,
historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands.

ODFW---A bright outlook for ocean salmon seasons

A bright outlook for ocean salmon seasons
  April  12, 2013

PORTLAND, Ore. – The proposed 2013 ocean salmon seasons  announced by the Pacific Fishery Management Council this week include good news for sport and commercial anglers off the Oregon coast.

Recreational and commercial troll chinook salmon fishing on the central and south coast looks especially good thanks to strong returns to the Sacramento and Klamath rivers. Anglers on the north coast also can expect good returns of chinook to the Columbia River but quotas will be similar to  last year.

In addition, there will be a two week recreational season for fin-clipped chinook North of Cape Falcon starting early in June.

“We’re hoping for a season that provides plenty of opportunity for folks to get out on the water and hook a salmon,” said Steve Williams, ODFW deputy administrator for Fish Division. “A solid salmon season could be a real economic shot in the arm for coastal communities.”

Sport anglers and commercial troll fishermen already have  been fishing along the Oregon Coast south of Cape Falcon, and have been  reporting good success from Newport to Bandon, according to Chris Kern, ODFW  salmon manager.

“All the signs are pointing towards a very good chinook season,” he said.

Summary of the Ocean Seasons Adopted by PFMC:
  • North of Cape Falcon to Leadbetter Pt.,  Washington
    •
    • Recreational season for hatchery fin-clipped  chinook from June 8-21 (8,000
      coastwide quota).

    • Recreational season for all salmon from June  22-Sept. 30 with a 2 fish
limit, of which only 1 can be a chinook and all coho must be fin-clipped.  Quota
of 37,380 coho with a 9,900 chinook guideline.

    • Commercial troll salmon seasons and quotas very similar to last year.
Seasons will start on May 1 for chinook and July 1 for hatchery coho and should
      continue through mid-September

  • South of Cape Falcon

    • Sport chinook from Cape Falcon south to Humbug Mt. open March 15 through
Oct. 31, and from Humbug Mt. to the OR/CA border open May 1 through Sept.
      8.

    • Sport fin-clipped coho open July 1-31 (quota of  10,500 coho) from Cape
      Falcon south to OR/CA Border

    • Sport non-selective coho in September (Sept. 1-2  and each Thurs-Sat) with a
quota of 16,000.  Open from Cape Falcon south  to Humbug Mt.

    • Commercial troll chinook salmon seasons from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mt. that
provides for full fishing from April 1 through Aug.29, and fall fishing with
weekly trip limits from Sept. 4 through Oct. 31.

    • Commercial troll chinook salmon seasons from  Humbug Mt. to OR/CA border
from April 1 through May 31 without trip limits or quotas, followed by June,
July, August, and September seasons managed by quota  with daily trip
      limits.
The  regulations adopted by the Pacific Fishery Management Council this week cover ocean waters from three to 200 miles from the state’s shore. In May, the Oregon  Fish and Wildlife Commission will be asked to consider concurrent regulations for Oregon’s territorial water that extend three miles from the shoreline. Fisheries that begin May 1 will open under temporary regulations. The regulations must also be approved by the National Marine Fishery Service and the Secretary of Commerce.
