ATTENTION RESIDENTS OF COOS COUNTY
On March 27, 2018, at the regular Board of Commissioner’s meeting, ALL THREE COMMISSIONERS voted to continue the North Bay urban renewal tax debt for another two decades. There are thirty-two million dollars in potential projects and any debt incurred over the twenty-year life of the plan is the responsibility of the taxpayer. Much of this public money will go to accommodate private development.
The commissioners could have allowed the voters to decide.
Since the commissioners denied the right of the voters, the Committee to Shut It Down filed a referendum on the Tax Ordinance so that the voters can decide on the debt. It will only happen if enough registered voters turn in their signatures.
