PROPAGANDA
More propaganda from the minority hit the press last week in our local papers. Ms. Storm PhD, from Portland, did her best to misinform our community in the form of a paid letter to the editor. I don’t have a PhD in Mathematics, but, guess the cost was upwards of 200 dollars at the standard rates.
Ms. Storm is either miserably uninformed , or part of the propaganda machine working within our community. While tooting her own horn as to the importance of education, she seems unwilling to educate herself on the National Marine Sanctuary issue, let alone the definition of moderator.
One truth in her letter was that Sanctuary employee, Ms. Wooninck repeatedly told our community NMS doesn’t affect fishing. The problem is, that itself is not true. Can you believe it? the Federal Government lied to us? It’s not the first time, and won’t be the last. Sanctuaries ABSOLUTELY manage fisheries, and countless other activities, but in the sneakiest of ways. Once again, i ask you to read the OPAC report, or the testimonies of experienced persons who have dealt with this Program for decades.
As for Ocean Acidification and Hypoxia, I attended a presentation on the issue provided by Francis Chan and Burke Hales of OSU on June 5th in Florence. Oddly, not one of the "concerned" members of our community were present. Much was discussed. Including the fact that the State of Oregon is years ahead of the Federal Government in addressing the issue. But wait, you said a National Marine Sanctuary would save us from this? More propaganda.
Glass bottom boats? Larger research vessels? Did you know we have a size limit on vessels at the Port of Port Orford? Have you been on the ocean here? Do you realize the visibility into the water is rarely over 5 feet and commonly even less? This isn’t Alpena Michigan.
Rest assured, your local elected officials are informed on NMS issues. Those asking for more information seem to be the ones unwilling to seek it, or, simply use this as a tactic to move their agenda forward.
Don’t be fooled by propaganda. It does nothing to further understanding, rather it serves as a tool to further divide our community, and promote extremism. The power of propaganda is evident throughout history, ask Nazi Joseph Goebbels PhD., below is a message from him.
