RE: SAPO County Reports:
Columbia ~ CP Chris Brummbles has been diligently circulating the SAPO petition and doing it with a broken leg. He is going the distance. The County Republican Party is interested in helping gather signatures. I will be at their February meeting on Friday, Feb 10. It helps to get associated groups interested in supporting the ordinance.
Coos ~ Third County to enact the SAPO, but it was done by initiative
Curry ~ Fourth County to enact the SAPO by vote of the Board of Commissioners
Deschutes ~ CP Jerrad Robison ~TBA
Douglas ~ CP Rob Price and County Commissioner Gary Leif will have a date in the near future. Good for us the new commissioner is birddogging it and trying to lead the other commissioners in the right direction.
Jackson ~ CP Jason Williams ~ TBA
Josephine ~TBA
Lake ~ CP Tim Harris - The Lake county BOC heard the case for the Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance on January 17, 2017. The board will make the decision later. It looks like it still has a good chance of flying by a vote of the board. Good job Tim. Everyone should send a follow-up to the Lake County Commissioners and ask them to preserve the Right to keep and Bear arms by enacting the SAPO.

Lane ~ CP Steven Ludwig ~ We asked Steven to hold off on approaching the county BOC until the issue got much hotter in the Oregon Legislature. Lane & Marion are going to be a tough fight and we want to have an insurmountable amount of support to show up for these county meetings. Then remember, it will take a considerable amount of petition signatures to put an initiative on the ballot.
Lincoln ~ TBA
Linn ~ New CP Mellissa Barnard ~ TBA
Malheur ~ CP Bruce Bond – On Wed, January 25, 2017 the Malheur BOC heard the case for the Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance. It looks like it has a good chance of passing. Good job Bruce. Right now, it would be a good time to send a follow-up message to the commissioners thanking them for the time and politely ask them to vote for the SAPO.

Marion ~ CP Allen Barker is working on a second attempt to get on the agenda by networking with others in the county. If at first it does not succeed then try, try, again. On the third denial, I suggest we advertise that we are going to make the request of the board during the public comment section and we load it up with hours’ worth of speakers. It is more limiting, but the people need to see where the board stands.
Umatilla ~ New CP Jesse Bonifer ~ TBA
Union ~ CP Ken Wisdom has convinced the BOC to hear our case at the regular board meeting on February 1, 2017. Please consider attending or you can send an email and ask the commissioners to support the Second Amendment.
