BANDON -- The Coos County Democrats invite the public to its annual recognition dinner Saturday, May 5, at the Bandon Community Center barn on 11th Street.
The event will be a celebration of the career of retiring state Sen. Joanne Verger, D-Coos Bay, who will be presenting the J. Lawton Verger Memorial award to the Democrat of the year. Former Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury will preside as master of ceremonies, with a keynote address to be delivered by
incumbent Kate Brown. Oregon House Co-Speaker Arnie Roblan, D-Coos Bay, state representative candidate Caddy McKeown and Coos County commissioner candidate Mark McKelvey also will be speaking.
Advance tickets can be purchased for $25 at Shark Bites in Coos Bay, Roger's Zoo in North Bend, Truffles in Bandon and Marino's Boots and Saddles in Coquille, and will be available for $30 at the door. The event i a silent auction, and a social hour beginning at 5 p.m. and dinner at 7.
