Open Space on the Coos Bay City Council

Every city in the county has several positions open for the General Election.  We need people who support limited government and who understands the US Constitution to run for these offices.

The 135 people who ran for County Commissioner need to get involved at the city level of government and run for one of these positions. 

The following positions will be open on the Coos Bay City Council, and they will be filled in the November 2012 General Election:


Mayor – 2 year term 
(Position currently held by Crystal Shoji)


City Councilor – 4 year term 
(Position currently held by Gene Melton


City Councilor – 4 year term 
(Position currently held by Mike Vaughan)


City Councilor – 4 year term 
(Position currently held by Jon Hanson)


Interested citizens may obtain information and file with Finance Director Susanne Baker at the Coos Bay City Hall located at 500 Central Avenue, Coos Bay or call 541-269-8915 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. from May 30, 2012 through August 28, 2012. Candidates filing by petition are asked to file before 5:00 p.m. August 21, 2012. To qualify, a citizen must be a registered voter and must have resided within the City of Coos Bay for at least
one year preceding the election date.
