On August 4th, 2015 Rob Taylor and Tom McKirgan submitted petitions to the Coos County Elections office. With the help from supporters, the committee gathered more signatures than were required in order to place the full Willowa County version of the Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance on the November 2015 Coos County ballot. We feel very confident that it will pass, becoming unlawful for any person or corporation to infringe on the Second Amendment resulting in fines of $2,000 per person and $4,000 per corporation for each violation.
The ordinance does not allow Coos County to allocate funds or resources toward the enforcement of SB941. You can view the ordinance here: http://www.cooscountywatchdog.com/second-amendment-preservation-ordinance.html
Additionally, we've began recall efforts against Coos County Commissioner John Sweet as a direct result of his adamant refusal to support the U.S. Second Amendment by twice voting against a proposed single page resolution against the despotic SB941, despite public outrage, stating; "I don't feel comfortable voting other peoples consciences on this matter."
The Committee to Preserve the Second Amendment warned the commission that if they refused to honor their sworn oaths to the U.S. and Oregon Constitutions by not passing the single page resolution, that We The People would do it ourselves. Thankfully, the ordinance has the full support of Coos County Sheriff Craig Zanni.
