OFF
ALERT 03.01.12
GOOD NEWS FROM THE SENATE

HB 4045 (CHL privacy)
passed out of the Senate today and SB 1594 (no guns in schools) failed in a
14-15 vote.

On the attempt to ban all self defense guns in schools, all
Senate Republicans voted no except Bruce Starr who was absent. This was good
news because we had concerns that some might cave. Thanks for all your calls and
emails.

Two Democrats also voted no. Betsy Johnson and Joanne
Verger

We will have details and vote counts later today.

It is interesting to note how Floyd Prozanksi voted on no guns in schools.

In an email Prozanksi sent out on Feb 28, he said, referring to SB 1594, "From what
I understand, it is a rewrite of SB 1550 (which I stopped in the Judiciary
Committee), but will include an opt-out provision for local schools.

Prozanksis claim to have stopped the bill in his committee was one
more disingenuous attempt to deflect the truth about how anti-gun he actually
is.  While claiming to have stopped it in his committee, he voted for it on
the Senate floor.

More to follow.
