Hey Rob,
It was in her resume in the Myrtle Point Paper for August 30, 2012. Myrtle Point paper says: In her Resume, Nelson said she felt her "skills and abilities are a good match with the city's current and future needs and goals.
"My community and economic development experience in local government during the last 20 years have given me the opportunity to be involved in most aspects of municipal services delivery, including over ll years of management
and budgetary responsibilities and 18 years working with a wide variety of boards, commissions and elected officials.
"As a land use planner, I learned to evaluate issues and work closely and collaboratively with citizens and interest groups to understand their concerns, enabling me to reach balanced decisions addressing conflicting needs.
"Most of my past duties have required building relationships and facilitating communication and processes between local government, staff of disparate state, federal and local agencies, and with the private sector in order to achieve the desired results. "Most recently I managed a planning department of 40 professional and technical staff with a $4.5 million operating budget which also included overseeing several large capital projects planning a new deep water port, the connecting rail line/loading facilities, and surrounding industrial district," Nelson said
She earned her certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners in 1998, and is working toward certification in emergency management and as a Certified Economic Developer through the International Economic
Development Council.
"I am dedicated to leading through the pursuit of excellence and building public trust. I am actively involved in the communities where I live and work. I believe in creating and fostering a high=performing organization that focuses
on quality customer service, public outreach and education opportunities, and building partnerships to strengthen community commitment and leverage resources.
"I take a hands-on-interactive management approach and engage staff and stakeholders in the decision-making process.
"I am a conscientious, productive professional with the community development expertise, management skills, and economic development experience to be an asset to the city and the community, Nelson said.
