Doors Open at 9 am, meeting at 9:30 am
The Owen Building
225 N. Adams Street, Coquille, Oregon
On Tuesday, February 3, a group of concerned citizens will be attending the Board of Commissioners meeting to ask them to pass an ordinance, or at the very least, a Resolution against any attempts by the Oregon legislature to expand background checks for any personal gun transfers. It would include family members to be checked before any gun transfers. A Son could get in trouble if their Father was to give them a gun, because it would be considered a transfer.
We will need everyone to show up, sign in, and speak out. If you do not say anything, you have said nothing. Sign in starts at 9 am and the meeting at 9:30 am. The Resolution is on the agenda right after Public Comment. The commissioners usually allow public comment after each agenda item, so people can speak on this particular issue.
Rep Wayne Krieger & Senator Jeff Kruse both say they support the county resolution, and they oppose background checks for personal transfers, especially between family members.
We need to request an ordinance, as they did in Wallowa County. Yamhill passed a resolution, but it does not come with any enforcement. The outcome will depend on turnout, so the decision is in the hands of the citizens of Coos County.
