OK, so we get up, dust ourselves off, then get back to work

By now you probably know we failed to get the 179 needed signatures for the Urban Renewal Debt extension to be placed on the ballot.  Even though we asked every signer if they were a registered Bandon city voter, apparently quite a few, that should have answered that question "no," went ahead and signed their names to the petition.  Yes, a disappointment.  But I look at it as a warm-up exercise for the real thing--a quick tutorial--a learning experience, if you will.  Soon we will try again.  And next time, armed with the knowledge we gained through our recent failure, we will succeed.  Rob Taylor and I are already brainstorming new methods for signature acquisition.  I also felt the subject of Urban Renewal Debt Extension was rather an esoteric one--ie--hard for the average voter to comprehend and one whose effects seemed far out in the future.  The next petition about Urban Renewal will be more direct and easy to understand, and yes, will have even a greater effect on limiting bureaucratic mismanagement of our tax dollars.  We are not done yet, in fact, we have just begun to fight.........
